I have been having this problem for months and I am now on my third galaxy s4 and I doubt that it has to do with a bad component. I have yet to resolve the problem but I have a feeling it has something to do with Google now and certain apps that are downloaded.

Facebook being one of them. When it's on, you'll get calls and then you'll stop hearing sound. When off, no problems. Only way to get sound back is phone reboot. After that setting is off, if still having problems then goto App Settings Google Play Services Clear cache, clear all data. Reboot phone, make sure setting still off. Ear speaker, loud speaker and microphone didn't work only during the cellular calls, but worked perfectly with other applications including Viber and WhatsApp.

Upgrade to the newest version fixed the problem. Also with other phone models. Thanks so much!! Show 8 more comments. The problem for me was in my SD card. I had tried everything before I tried that, and it seemed the more I tried, the worse the problem got. It had been an intermittent problem, so sometimes things would seem to fix it but weren't actually fixing it. Somewhere along the line, something was installed on my SD card or some corruption on the card made the phone do this. Although I've likely permanently lost some data, my phone works as a phone again. I was having the same intermittent calling issues, fixed by an occasional reboot, but then back to the same problem.

I recently had my SD card stolen and put an old one in that used to represent solid black squares in between all my photos that I could never get rid of on another phone I used it with. I took out the SD card and I am back up and running! Never mind. I have never wanted to throw something against the wall worse that this. I did a hard reset on my phone last night, and it worked after, but this morning when I tested it, guess what?

If you hear ringing then the call will work. Rebooting usual works for a call or two. Messing with some settings may get it to work for a period of time. But for me none of any of the other suggested fixes worked except rebooting and turning airplane mode on and off but it only fixed it for awhile. I have used the phone for 1.

How to Hide Sensitive Notification Data on Most Android Devices

  8. I ordered one for my I today. I hope it will be the "answer" to being able to answer my phone! I'll keep you posted on my success of lack thereof. Since you suggested replacing the Sim Card and SD card reader, I did it today, the part was easy to replace, but after rebooting the phone I still have the same problem after 3 successful phone calls--the 4th call an hour later netted the same result! I am out of options. Same thing for me too!

No sound or mic during calls only.

I just replaced the SIM card reader, disabled Google now, had it working and hour later received a call and nothing!!! Simply set the device to silent, vibrate or do not disturb. Are you having issues turning off the camera shutter sound on your smartphone? Let us know in the comments if you have any problems! The fundamental problem is that on Samsung phones and, it seems, on other Androids, you cannot actually turn off the shutter sound, but have to resort to manually adjusting the master volume. Apparently this is because in some countries you are not supposed to be able to turn off the shutter sound.

There was no such problem on my old MS Lumia, from which I have just 'emigrated'. My workaround is an app I found. Just leave it running all the time, and it simply turns off all the sound when the camera app is activated. As soon as the camera is 'closed', all sounds come back on. Although it does not deal only with the shutter sound, it is an acceptable workaround. Haven't worked out, however, why the app switches itself off, seemingly at random There are situations when the shutter sound has to be disabled, so as not to be disturbing.

Otherwise, it's useful because you know when you took the picture and by mistake you did not press the button correctly. However, on my new Nokia 7 plus, the sound chirps every time the shot is taken on the panorama setting. My god. A roar. Can't something be done? I just turn the volume down. When showing it off to the Russians about the accomplishment, the Russians said, we just use pencil. Stock Android Nexus 6P running 7. Can you help?
